Congratulations! The Loudoun Revolution
was chosen as the ODSL Division 2 Randy
Rawls Sportsmanship Award recipient for
the Spring 2004 season!
According to the ODSL website,
"Each season the coaches in the ODSL vote for a team
in their division which exhibits the best sportsmanship.
In addition to the coaches' votes (coaches are not allowed
to vote for their own teams), sportsmanship points are averaged
from each referee report card. Also, points are subtracted
for yellow and red cards accumulated during the season. The
prestigious award is named after Randy Rawls, one of the
league's original founders and its first President. The award
honors the winner's sense of fair play, something for which
Randy was renouned as he sought to bring soccer to the youth
of Northern Virginia. Randy has since retired to Florida
where he authors detective mystery books."
We were chosen out of 9 teams in Division 2! Coach Sam says
that "as we set goals for the year, we identified several,
which included: keeping soccer fun, developing skills and
maintaining good sportsmanship. This is one example that
your good sportsmanship was noticed by others. Congratulations
to you all. I am very proud of you!"
This is a great way to begin a new season!
Play On!
